John Paulson

Founder and President of Paulson & Co. since 1994 – a NY-based hedge fund– John Alfred Paulson is a US hedge fund manager. In 2007 he became a billionaire, by short-selling subprime mortgages.   In that year alone, he made $3.7 billion and three years later, $5 billion, topping hedge-fund records.    Over the years, Paulson has earned much of his wealth on the housing market collapse as well as gold’s rise. In 2008, he was ranked by Trader as the world’s best trader. In 2011 his wealth stood at $16 billion rendering him the 36th richest person in the world. Today, with $36 billion in assets under management, Paulson & Co. is the world’s third largest hedge fund.
