Feinberg is a hard worker; the first one in the office and the last one to leave. His energy spreads throughout the firm. As he says, ‘our past performance is almost irrelevant because we can’t afford to rest on our laurels’.
Steve Feinberg is also a very private person and he very rarely gives interviews. Despite his great personal wealth (Feinberg reportedly earned $50 million in 2004), his lifestyle is much less extravagant than those of his peers in private equity. He lives on the Upper East Side of Manhattan together with his wife Gisela and their 3 daughters.
In his free time he engages in chess, skiing, and riding on his motorcycle, a Harley-Davidson. Steve and Gisela Feinberg contribute prolifically to the Republican Party and associated organizations. Former Republican Vice President of the United States, Dan Quayle, works for Cerberus as the Chairman of Global Investments. Former United States Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld was also a client.
