Headquartered in The Hague, and having a registered office in the UK, Royal Dutch Shell plc, – more commonly known as Shell – is an international gas and oil company. In addition, there is Shell Oil Company which is the company’s US subsidiary. Forbes ranks it as the fifth-largest company in the world (and the second-largest energy company). The categories in which it operates under gas and oil include: exploration and production; refining; marketing and distribution; power generation; petrochemicals and trading. In addition, it is involved in substantial renewable energy activities such as: wind power, hydrogen, solar and biofuels. The company operates in more than 90 countries, producing over 3 million barrels of oil daily. As well, it boasts 44,000 service stations globally.
