With its headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, Nucor Steel Corporation is one of the largest producers of steel in the United States. It is the largest “mini-mill” operator, an innovation introduced in the 1960s by F. Kenneth Iverson.
Nucor is one of the largest recycler of any material in North America. Nucor states that they are returning into the steel production cycle as much as one ton of steel every two seconds. The company manufactures 25 million tons of steel every year.
