Dr. John Bates is CTO at Progress Software. This means he is head of the team that establishes and evolves the company’s strategy and vision; directs market research and due diligence for acquisitions to support its strategy; and accurately communicates the company’s strategy and solutions to customers, partners and other constituencies. Through his work at the company, Bates has gained recognition as being one of the primary forces behind the development of Complex Event Processing and has pushed forward the commercial use of event processing in business solutions. It was also Bates who was behind the initiative to develop the company’s Responsive Process Management Strategy as well as other solutions for airline operations, logistics, telecommunications and more.
