Launched in 1999, BAE Systems Inc. is an international firm based in the UK that develops, delivers and supports advanced defense, security and aerospace systems. It is one of the largest defense contractors in the world, and one of the six largest suppliers to the American Department of Defense. BAE Systems is the result of a merger between Marconi Electronic Systems and British Aerospace. Today it plays a key role in a variety of large defense projects, such as the F-35 Lightning II, the Eurofighter Typhoon, etc.
