The Home Depot

According to overall revenue reported to the Securities and Exchange Commission, The Home Depot is the largest home improvement retailer in the United States with over 650 stores and sales of over $24.2 billion.

The Home Depot was founded in 1978 by Bernard Marcus, Arthur Blank, Ron Brill, and Pat Farrah. The revolutionary concept of the store was to be a home improvement warehouse, much larger than any of their competition’s facilities. With the help of investment banker Kenneth Langone the partners were able to finance the launching of their brainchild.

“Bernie and I founded The Home Depot with a special vision – to create a company that would keep alive the values that were important to us. Values like respect among all people, excellent customer service and giving back to communities and society,” Arthur Blank is quoted as saying.
