This is America’s central banking system. It was established back in 1913 when the Federal Reserve Act was enacted due to a general financial panic in the country. Over the years, the Federal Reserve System has taken on many new and different responsibilities and roles and its entire structure has significantly expanded. As well, it changed due to major events in the country like the Great Depression.
