Suzanne B. Labarge

Suzanne B. Labarge was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, in 1946. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from McMaster University in 1967, and went on to get her MBA from Harvard University, where she completed her degree in 1971. Labarge served as an administrator on the Board of Governors at McMaster University.

In 1971, upon graduated Harvard Business, Labarge began her career at the Royal Bank of Canada, where she worked until 1985. She became the assistant auditor-general for the Canadian government in 1985 and served in that capacity for two years, until she became the deputy superintendent of financial institutions where she remained until 1995. That year, 1995, Labarge became the executive vice-president for corporate treasury at the Royal Bank of Canada, and served in that capacity for three years. The Royal Bank of Canada chose Labarge to be their vice chairman and chief risk officer in 1999, where she remained until 2004.

From 2005 until 2007 Suzanne B. Labarge served on the board of Novelis and began her service on the board of the Bank of China, where she still sits today. In 2007 she began to serve on the board of Coca Cola Enterprises. Labarge is still on the board at the Royal Bank of Canada and is Chairman of the Risk Management Association.
