Steve Feinberg

Stephen A. Feinberg (born March 29, 1960) is a businessman working in the field of private equity. He is the founder and CEO of Cerberus Capital Management. Steve Feinberg lives in Manhattan, New York with his wife and three daughters.

Early life

Steve Feinberg lived in the Bronx, NY until age eight. Then his family moved to Spring Valley, a relatively poor suburb of New York City. His father worked as a steel salesman.

He graduated from Princeton University in New Jersey with a degree in politics in 1982. While there, he was captain of the tennis team and entered the Reserve Officer Training Corps.

Professional career

Upon graduating from college, Feinberg worked as a trader for Drexel Burnham.

From 1985 to 1992 after he left Drexel, he managed separate pools of capital for Gruntal & Co. and some other accounts.

In 1992, Steve Feinberg joined up with William L. Richter to start Cerberus Capital Management and has led the firm since its founding.
