In 2002 Mark C. Fishman, M.D. became President of the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR). He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the firm. Before joining the firm he was Chief of cardiology and Director of the Cardiovascular Research Center at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was also a Professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. Fishman also serves on the council of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies in America. He has received many awards and distinguished lectureships.
