In 1963 Bronson Ingram, the late husband of Martha, inherited his father’s barge and oil empire and ran the company until his death in 1995 when Martha took control. In the 1980s Martha Ingram made some daring moves, including the creation and public offering of Ingram Micro, which went on to become the largest computer wholesaler in the US. Together Ingram Industries and Ingram Entertainment distribute a large variety of products, including Microsoft software and books from Barnes and Noble.
