Hugh Mitchell was appointed Chief Human Resources and Corporate Officer of Royal Dutch Shell in the summer of 2009. This gives him responsibility for: HR; internal and external communications; as well as aircraft, global security, health and real estate for Shell throughout the African region (but not Nigeria). He has held a variety of HR positions throughout the company in the UK and Brunei. Mitchell was also Vice President of HR for the Global Oil Products business.? In The Netherlands he held the position of Director International where he was in charge of coordinating the company’s worldwide government relations activities. In 2005, he took on the position of Human Resources Director of Royal Dutch Shell and two years later became a member of the Executive Committee. Mitchell has been with the company since 1979.
