General Dynamics Corporation

Founded in 1952 as a consolidation between Consolidated Vultee (CONVAIR), the Electric Boat Company and others, General Dynamics Corporation is a “market leader in business aviation; land and expeditionary combat vehicles and systems, armaments, and munitions; shipbuilding and marine systems; and mission-critical information systems and technology.”  The company sold many of its defense-based businesses in the early 1990s and then moved on in its acquisition of combat vehicle-related businesses; shipyards IT product and service companies and Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation.  General Dynamics today has amassed and assimilated over 60 businesses.  The company’s revenue has developed from $4bn to around $32bn during that time and the employee base has increased from around 29,000 to 95,000 employees today.
