Edward C. Johnson II

Edward C. Johnson II was born in Massachusetts in 1898 and earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University. In 1943 Johnson headed management of the Fidelity Fund, and quickly began to turn it into the center of what became over the years a giant financial empire. Johnson changed mutual funds from being merely savings vehicles to true investment vehicles. He taught his investors to demand performance as an investment goal.
