Bob Dudley

Bob Dudley, became CEO of BP in 2009, bringing more than three decades of experience to the helm. Prior to this executive role, in 2003 he was appointed as chief executive of the company’s joint venture in Russia.  It was at this time, AAR – a joint venture – was established, valued at $6bn.  Under Dudley’s tutelage, oil outputs increased by a third.  But in a fallout with AAR, technical employees in his company were legally prevented from working in Russia.  The situation became highly volatile and the TNK-BP offices were raided twice in Moscow.  When his visa was not renewed four years ago, he thus left Russia and on his return tried to operate TNK-BP from a secret location.  In 2009 he joined the BP board as head of company operations in Asia and the Americas.
