Bernard Looney became Executive VP of Developments at BP in October 2010. This position renders him responsible for: drilling and completions and upstream project activity. Other positions he has held at the company include: Drilling Engineer (in the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea and Vietnam); head of drilling operations on Thunder Horse in the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico; a member of the Exploration and Technology Group; Senior VP, BP Alaska; Head of the Group CEO’s Executive Office. In 2008 he was VP for Norway and Infrastructure, relocating to the North Sea and a year later MD of the company’s North Sea business in the UK and Norway. Looney has been with the company since 1991.
